Install Day!

Summary

Today was the day I received my two nuc hives, thus beginning my beekeeping journey.

Weather

It was cold and rainy. Not a great day for installing nucs, but the next day was going to be bad as well.

Encounter Log

• two nucs were moved into two new hives from galena farms (Hoover Hives).
• During the process I saw neither queen from either nuc, but that's not unusual.

Beeyonce (Furthest hive from house)

• I messed up the Bee Buffet (sugar feeder) placement and accidentally spilled half a liter of sugar water into one of the hives (the hive I refer to as Beeyonce)
  • This was caused by the hive being at an angle. I resolved by putting some wood under the front of the hive
    • I later realized that I should have re-oriented the Bee Buffet so that the reservoir was on the low side, not high side.
